Welcome to The Legendary Normandy Shores Golf Club!

The land for the golf course was generously donated to the City of Miami Beach by M. C. Gryzmish on January 4, 1928. A year later, the City took possession of the land and embarked on a significant project to create a man-made island for the golf course. After diligent dredging and hauling efforts, Normandy Shores Isle was established by July 28, 1937 when Howard Toomy and William S. Flynn were appointed as the golf course architects. The initial plans for the golf course were drafted around this time, and by December 18, 1941, the stunning new golf course and clubhouse were ready for a memorable dedication ceremony organized by the City of Miami Beach.

While most of Miami Beach was repurposed into a training camp for the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, Normandy Shores Golf Club thrived during the Postwar Boom era, particularly around 1956 when Mark Manahah was enlisted to redesign the golf course. Following the renovation, Normandy Shores became a popular destination among both renowned professional golfers like Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer, as well as local fixtures such as Stork, Charlie the Blade, and Three-Iron Ward.

For over five decades, the City of Miami Beach has diligently maintained the golf course, attracting golf enthusiasts from Miami Beach, Miami, North Miami, and Miami Shores due to its convenient location near the 79th street causeway.

In 2008, the City of Miami Beach invested over $9 million in a notable renovation project led by world-renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills. The redesign marked a significant enhancement for Normandy Shores Golf Club, restoring it to its former glory.

In 2011, Normandy Shores hosted the Inaugural South Beach International Amateur tournament just ahead of Christmas, which quickly gained acclaim as one of the highest-ranked inaugural amateur tournaments globally. Over time, the tournament has continued to attract top-tier talent from around the world, maintaining its status as one of the premier international contests in golf annually.

With over 160 designs to his name and a commitment to crafting courses that cater to golfers of all levels, Hills has left an indelible mark on the industry. His firm has also been tasked with refining or renovating more than 100 courses worldwide, often in preparation for major USGA and PGA Championships at some of the country's most renowned clubs.
